INSPIRING ART IN THE COMMUNITY
The Elkhart ArtWalk was established in 2011 to give artists an opportunity to showcase their work — and for the general public to enjoy it — along Main Street in Downtown Elkhart. This event occurs 4 times per year, during the late spring to early fall months. Until 2015, the event was promoted primarily via social media (Facebook) and an event page buried in the city’s website. My participation in the ArtWalk planning committee gave me the opportunity to provide suggestions for the event’s online presence and create a website that would offer a more accessible online destination for visitors and artists interested in the event. The website features information about what will be featured at the ArtWalk events, including artists, photos, and community projects, as well as applications and regulations for participating artists and local businesses. I have also shot photography and created designs for postcards and ads promoting the event.
